Your Timber Flooring Questions Answered

This quick Q&A covers the questions we hear most often. If you need tailored guidance, book a visit and Andrew will workshop the details with you.

General

What areas do you service?

We bring the mobile showroom to the Northern Beaches, North Shore, Inner West and Hills District, and we regularly support nearby Sydney suburbs when a project needs a specialist timber flooring team.

What types of floors do you offer?

We supply and install hybrid, laminate and engineered timber floors, and we also provide sanding and polishing for existing timber floors.

What floor best suits my lifestyle or home activity?

Hybrid flooring suits busy families and wet zones, laminate provides durable and affordable performance, while engineered timber offers a premium natural finish.

What floor will best suit my budget?

During quoting we recommend options at different price points. Laminate and hybrid offer excellent value, while engineered timber sits higher for a luxury finish.

Installation & Preparation

Do I need underlay for a floating installation?

Yes. Underlay lifts comfort underfoot, improves acoustic performance and adds moisture protection—particularly when installing over concrete.

Will my old floor need repairs before installing a new floor?

Possibly. We test for moisture, check levels and carry out subfloor rectification where required so the new system lasts.

Do I need expansion trims in my flooring installation?

Yes. Expansion trims allow natural movement with temperature and humidity changes, preventing buckling or gaps.

Do you have matching stair nosing, trims and scotia?

Yes. We supply matching trims, scotia and stair nosing so transitions and edges look cohesive.

Do I need to be at home when my floor is installed?

Being available on day one helps confirm layout direction, trims and access, but it isn't essential for the full installation.

Can I put heavy fixed items on a floating floor?

Yes—provided we plan the layout and expansion breaks correctly. We engineer installations for island benches, aquariums, billiard tables and more.

Finishing & Aftercare

Can my floor be sanded?

Solid timber and many engineered timber floors can be sanded and refinished, whereas hybrid and laminate cannot be sanded.

Do I need a final coat before walking on my new floor?

Pre-finished boards are ready immediately. For polished timber we'll confirm drying times before light foot traffic or moving furniture back in.

Should I keep spare planks from the install?

Yes. Retain at least one unopened carton so future repairs or extensions can match exactly, even if the range is discontinued.

How do I clean my floor?

Stick to pH-neutral cleaners and a microfibre mop. Avoid steam and oversaturated mopping, and fit felt pads plus entry mats to minimise wear.

How do I repair a scratched or damaged floor?

Light scratches can often be hidden with colour-matched putty or repair kits. Deeper damage can be resolved by board replacement or sanding and refinishing.

Environmental & Technical

What should I do if my floor is affected by storms, flooding or high humidity?

Let the area dry gradually and avoid direct heat. Once moisture levels stabilise we assess the subfloor and boards to plan repairs or replacement.

Are your flooring products manufactured to Australian Standards?

Yes. We specify reputable brands that comply with Australian Standards and are supported by local warranties.

Do your floors meet VOC emission requirements for indoor use?

Yes. We prioritise low-VOC ranges for healthier indoor air quality and can supply technical sheets if you have sensitivities.

Can I use caulking to fill expansion gaps?

No. Expansion gaps must remain clear so the floor can move. We conceal them with trims or scotia for a neat finish.
